There is one simple rule: the more time you spend on a safari, the more you will see.

We offer one to seven day itineraries, which are described below. A minimum of three days is encouraged. If your schedule allows for it, we highly recommend the five day safari. It is the most popular choice amongst our clients, who leave very content with the balance of time between traveling, game drives, and down time.

Our safaris begin around 8AM on day one. We depart from Moshi when the safari follows a Kilimanjaro climb. Otherwise, we depart from Arusha if safaris are done preceding a climb. All safaris end in the midafternoon to early evening on the last day in Arusha or with drop off at Kilimanjaro airport.

Typical Safari Day

The days begin with a hot breakfast at the hotel or tented camp, followed by travel to a destination or a game drive if you are already in a park.

Driving times between destinations will vary but they typically range between one to three hours. Note that the roads are not paved, so expect a bumpy and dusty ride, known as an “African massage.”

Game drives are excursions inside national parks or conservation areas where we search for game and wildlife. This is the main purpose of a safari, to find and observe as many animals as we can can in their natural habitat so that you can come away with photographs and tales of amazing sightings.

Game drives will vary in distance and time, from a couple of hours to the whole day. Drives often proceed along waterholes, rivers, and other wildlife hotspots, where animals tend to congregate.

A hot lunch is packed in the vehicle so you may eat while en route to your destination or inside the park. Your guide will find a good spot to have lunch, whether it is in a picnic area with tables or a public rest stop.

Beware that lesser companies do not provide hot meals for lunch. Instead they substitute cheap, inferior “box lunches” that are completely devoid of taste and nutrition, day after day.

Before dark, you will head to the lodge or tented camp where you can shower and rest before dinner. If you have had enough game viewing for a day, you can always ask to retire early. In some places, dinner is buffet style while others are a la carte. Your guide will discuss when to be ready for the following day’s events.

All Safaris Are Private

We do not operate group safaris.

All safaris are private bookings. You can choose any departure date and safari duration. Inside the vehicle, it will be just you, your party and your guide. Let your guide know what interests you. You decide what you want to see and for how long.

During game drives, your guide will point out and explain the flora, fauna and geography around you. Feel free to ask questions – the more the better. There will be plenty of time for finding wildlife to observe and taking photographs. Because the wildlife are highly accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles and its human occupants, the animals will continue to behave normally even when the vehicles are close by. That means they will rest, graze, play and even hunt in front of you.

All clients are strictly forbidden to exit the vehicle except in designated areas. There are some proper facilities for restroom breaks. Alternatively, your guide may find a safe area for outdoor relief if those are far away.

Souvenir Shopping

You will have the opportunity to shop for souvenirs during your safari. There are markets in Karatu, located just south of the gate into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, that you can visit. There you can find local arts and crafts like paintings, jewelry, wood carvings and pottery.

A word of warning – you will be justifiably appalled at the starting prices that shopkeepers will insist on for their items. But don’t be deterred. Haggling is customary in Tanzania and something that is expected of you. So don’t get frustrated or angry. Keep your sense of humor and be friendly and try to strike up a fair deal. Cut at least half the price or more. Depending on the product, you should be able to purchase it for 25%-50% of the initial price.
