For those who want to climb on different dates or routes than our group departures, we offer private climbs. Private climbs are also for those who would like to keep the group size small to have a more intimate experience on the mountain. Climbers with children or special needs are required to book private climbs for increased individual attention from our guides.

We can organize private climbs on any route, for any length, on any dates, for any size group, subject to staff availability. We fill to capacity many months ahead of time during the high season, so reserve your dates as soon as possible.

During the low season (April, May and November), there is a high probability of rainy conditions. Therefore, only experienced backpackers should consider climbing in these months. Additionally, rains prevent vehicle access to the trailheads for Shira, Lemosho and Northern Circuit at this time.

He always made sure we were awake and checked on how we had slept before we headed to the mess tent for breakfast. There, we were treated to outstanding meals prepared by August, our chef. Every meal throughout the entire climb was delicious, plentiful, and remarkably varied considering the remote environment in which we were traveling. We were consistently impressed by the quality of the food, and we certainly never went hungry! One of the small touches that made a huge difference was receiving our nightly “teddy bear” — a hot-water bottle we placed in our tent to help keep us warm. After long days on the mountain, climbing into a cold tent and having that warm bottle waiting for us was an incredible comfort and something we looked forward to every evening. Each day when we returned to camp, we were greeted by Gaston, who would carefully brush the dust from our shoes, gaiters, pants, and backpacks. His cheerful personality and friendly smile were always a welcome sight after a long day on the trail. It was another example of the incredible attention to detail shown by the entire Ultimate Kilimanjaro team. Our group of eight successfully reached our goal, and we could not have done it without the dedication, encouragement, and hard work of our guides and porters. But August did something that I will never forget. After all 8 of us successfully reached the summit, August actually baked us a cake to celebrate! We had just accomplished something incredibly difficult and reached the summit of Kilimanjaro, and when we returned to camp, our chef had made us a cake to congratulate us. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture, and it perfectly captured the kind of people this team is. They didn’t just take care of our physical needs. They celebrated our accomplishments with us. OUR SAFARI — TONY Our experience didn’t end when we came down from the mountain. Tony, our safari guide, was absolutely fantastic. Ultimate Kilimanjaro delivered the ultimate Kilimanjaro experience We had a simply extraordinary experience with Ultimate Kilimanjaro. From inquiry through booking and implementation, their communication was clear and they delivered on every promise they made. We were six women and we felt safe and educated every step of the way. There were other organizations on the mountain we experienced as less respectful (of tourists and other guides/porters) and so the value and benefit we derived from our crew was clear. We utilized the nine-day Northern Circuit route and saw beautiful views on the least crowded route up Kilimanjaro. The team was respectful, generous, and thought of everything to make us comfortable including dusting off our pants and boots before we got in our tents. The price for our trip was perfectly reasonable for what we received in exchange including all meals, private transfers to and from the airport, hotel stays on either side of the trek, a private toilet on the trek and detailed briefings and concern for our safety at every step. Now that we've completed the trip, I can without hesitation, say that our expectations were exceeded in every regard. The pre-trip communications and guidance were excellent. The guides were phenomenal... knowledgable, kind, and warm. There overriding goal was to get everyone to the summit safely, whilst having a lot of fun. The food was out of this world. Every aspect of the climb was outstanding - guides, porters, cooks, food and even the toilet setup! Based on our open schedule, Shawn recommended the 9 day northern circuit, which gave us a great tour of the mountain, helped with acclimatization, and allowed us to get to know our fellow climbers, guides and porters. Ultimate Kilimanjaro I just can’t say enough good things. It started with hours of researching guide companies to hike Kilimanjaro. My contact with Ultimate was Sean and he patiently answered my many (many) questions. When the trip began, we felt prepared and we felt SAFE! The guides, chefs, and porters were so professional and we would not have reached the summit and returned without them! Ultimate Kilimanjaro - the best choice you can make An unforgettable Kilimanjaro experience with an outstanding team Choosing Ultimate Kilimanjaro for our summit adventure turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. There are many companies offering Kilimanjaro trekking, so choosing the right one is really important — especially when it comes to safety, organization and the quality of support you receive along the way. We were a group of 14 people from different countries, taking on the 8-day Lemosho Route. From the very beginning, everything was extremely well organized. Our group was led by Filbert and Deus Maro, together with four fantastic guides: Amani, Godfrey, Leonard and Tuma. And what a team they were! Professional, experienced, incredibly supportive and genuinely caring. They constantly looked after us, encouraged us and made sure that everyone felt safe and comfortable. Their attitude created an amazing atmosphere within the group and turned 8 days of trekking into a real team adventure. The result was something truly special: every single person in our group made it to the summit — a 100% success rate! One Team, One Dream The decision to go with Ultimate Kilimanjaro was definitely the best decision we made when planning our Kilimanjaro summit hike. There are loads of companies offering Kilimanjaro treks, but when you take on an adventure like this, choosing your operator thoughtfully really matters. A long history of activity, tradition, the highest standards of service, best safety practices, and health and safety procedures built on years of experience — these are the things that count the most. And they result not only in a great experience, but also in a wonderful atmosphere and a real sense of being in it together. A few words about our hike: we were an international group of 14 clients taking on the 8-day Lemosho Route together. The group was led by Filbert and Deus Maro, supported by four guides: Amani, Godfrey, Leonard and Tuma. All of them were absolutely wonderful — supportive, caring, knowledgeable and always there when we needed them. They were definitely the foundation of our success. Our group achieved a 100% summit success rate, which made the happiness and excitement we felt at the top even more vivid and intense. The food along the way was absolutely delicious and varied, the quality of the tents and mattresses was impeccable, and communication with the whole team was excellent. The information they shared with us during the trek also made us much more aware of the park, its nature and the incredible environment we were experiencing. Ultimate Kilimanjaro - Safari After completing our 7-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro climb with Ultimate Kilimanjaro, my spouse and I continued our Tanzanian adventure with the company on a 3-Day Private Safari, and once again, the experience exceeded our expectations. Our safari guide, Lalashe, was absolutely incredible and truly made these three days something we will remember for the rest of our lives. From the moment we met him, he was professional, friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. His expertise went far beyond simply spotting wildlife—throughout our safari, he taught us about the animals, their behaviors, the ecosystems we were traveling through, the surrounding landscapes, and Tanzanian culture. We asked countless questions over the three days, and Lalashe seemingly always had an answer! His knowledge and passion for Tanzania and its wildlife made the safari as educational as it was exciting. We left with not only hundreds of amazing photos and videos, but a much deeper understanding and appreciation for the three incredible places we had the opportunity to visit. Lalashe was also an excellent and extremely safe driver, which we appreciated throughout the trip. Navigating the parks and rough terrain while simultaneously spotting wildlife takes an incredible amount of skill, and we always felt completely comfortable with him behind the wheel. One of the biggest highlights was being fortunate enough to see the Big Five! Lalashe worked incredibly hard to give us the best experience possible. He knew where to look, took his time when we encountered wildlife, and positioned the vehicle whenever possible so that we could really enjoy the moment and capture amazing photos and videos to remember the trip. We never felt rushed. He genuinely seemed just as invested in making our safari special as we were. The fact that Ultimate Kilimanjaro’s safaris are private made the experience even better. It was just the two of us with Lalashe, which allowed us to enjoy the safari at our own pace, ask as many questions as we wanted, and really take in each wildlife encounter without having to accommodate a larger group. After experiencing a private safari, it would be difficult to imagine doing it any other way. The accommodations and logistics were equally impressive. Ultimate Kilimanjaro handled our transportation and pickup/drop-off at our accommodations each day, making the entire itinerary feel seamless. We spent two nights at Pembeni Lodge, a beautiful permanent-tented style lodge surrounded by incredible views of the forest and nearby villages. It was such a unique and peaceful place to return to after a full day of safari. The property was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. For our final night, we transitioned to Milimani Lodge in preparation for our transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Ultimate Kilimanjaro coordinated every part of the transition and our transportation, allowing us to simply enjoy our final days in Tanzania without worrying about any of the logistics. After spending both our Kilimanjaro climb and our safari with Ultimate Kilimanjaro, we were consistently impressed by how well the company handled every aspect of our trip. From transportation and accommodations to guides and scheduling, everything felt organized and thoughtfully planned. Most importantly, we cannot say enough wonderful things about Lalashe. His knowledge, professionalism, driving skills, patience, personality, and genuine enthusiasm for what he does transformed an incredible safari into an unforgettable one. Best safari experience we could imagine We did a 4 day safari in Tanzania. Went to Tarangire, the Serengeti as well as the Ngorongoro crater. Juma was our guide and he was fabulous. We saw all of the "Big 5" as well as a host of other animals. The accommodations were all first-rate and the meals were excellent. It wasn't about the mountain! My partner and I took the 9 day Lemosho route last month (which I would recommend to maximise acclimatisation and chances of reaching summit). We were part of a client group of fourteen ably led by August and Robert as leaders of the guides and porters. The hike went well with thirteen of the fourteen reaching the top. Yet by the time we got to enjoy the thrill of reaching Uhuru Peak it had become a secondary experience to our appreciation of our guides and our porters. The customer service they provided was phenomenal and could be a case study for Western corporates. One of our group rightly commented that we were made to feel like celebrities. Nothing was too much trouble and we were constantly surprised by treats (hot water bottles and boot cleaning to mention just two). The Ultimate, Ultimate Kilimanjaro Experience My spouse and I just completed the 7-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Summit Experience on a private guided climb with Ultimate Kilimanjaro, and it is difficult to put into words how much gratitude we have for the incredible team assigned to our climb. From beginning to end, the experience was exceptionally organized. Our trip began with a comfortable private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to our accommodations, which was included in our tour package. After a much-needed night of rest at the Parkview Inn in Moshi, our guides met us in the lobby the following morning to begin our trek. They reviewed the plan for the day and the week ahead, checked our gear to make sure we had everything we needed from the packing list, and then we boarded the bus with what would become our incredible crew of 13 professionals for the next seven days. Our primary guide, Richard, and assistant guide, Elias, were absolutely incredible. Both have hundreds of Kilimanjaro summits under their belts, but their experience alone wasn’t what made us feel like we were in such capable hands. From the beginning, they took the time to get to know us, understand our strengths, become familiar with our equipment, and assure us that they would be with us every step of the way. Their knowledge of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, the environment, the culture, and the mountain itself seemed endless. Every day, they kept us informed about the route ahead, what to expect, and how to prepare ourselves physically and mentally. They helped us learn Swahili words and phrases so we could better communicate with our crew and taught us about Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania, and its people. We came away from this trip with not only an appreciation for the mountain, but an even deeper appreciation for the people and culture of Tanzania. Most importantly, we always felt safe. Richard and Elias paid close attention to how we were feeling throughout the climb and understood exactly when to slow us down, when to encourage us, and when we were capable of pushing a little farther. Their pacing and attention to our well-being gave us tremendous confidence, particularly as we gained altitude. Summit night was where their experience and dedication became even more apparent. It was undoubtedly the most physically and mentally challenging portion of our seven days, but we never felt like we were facing it alone. Richard and Elias were beside us throughout the climb, keeping us moving at the right pace, encouraging us through the difficult moments, and making sure we were doing well along the way. Ultimately, both of us successfully reached Uhuru Peak, and standing together at the Roof of Africa is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. Richard and Elias played an enormous role in getting us there safely and successfully, and we will forever be grateful to them. The accommodations throughout the trek far exceeded what we expected from camping on a mountain. We traveled with everything recommended on Ultimate Kilimanjaro’s extremely helpful packing list and rented fantastic sleeping bags directly through the company. Everything else we needed was taken care of for us. We had a spacious four-person tent for just the two of us, three-course meals three times a day, trail snacks, safe drinking water for our hydration bladders and bottles, a private commode and privacy tent, and a mess tent where we could comfortably sit down for meals, snacks, and even “happy hour.” The food deserves special recognition. Stephen, our chef, somehow managed to prepare incredible meals day after day on the side of a mountain, and we were continually impressed by both the quality and variety of the food. After long days of hiking, sitting down to a hot, freshly prepared meal felt like an absolute luxury. But what truly set Ultimate Kilimanjaro apart for us was the 11 other members of our crew working alongside Richard and Elias. Stephan, our chef; Marin, our waiter; Joely, our dishwasher; Gervas, who managed our private commode; Raymond, our tent man; Baraka M., the porters’ chef; and our porters Daudi U., Samwel, Baraka K., Daudi, and Ijumaa all played an essential role in making this experience possible. Every day, this team carried our overnight bags and the enormous amount of equipment necessary to create a functioning campsite on Kilimanjaro. They transported tents, cooking equipment, food, water, tables, chairs, and countless other necessities up the mountain. They prepared our campsites, fetched and treated our water, cooked our meals, maintained our equipment, and somehow had everything waiting for us when we arrived after a full day of hiking. Watching how hard this crew worked gave us an entirely new appreciation for what goes into making a Kilimanjaro summit possible. Even more impressive than their work ethic was their kindness. Every member of our crew was professional, friendly, trustworthy, hardworking, and genuinely wonderful to be around. No matter how difficult the day or how much work they had already done, we were greeted with smiles, encouragement, laughter, and kindness. We specifically chose a private climb for the two of us, and we are so glad we did. Having Richard and Elias focused on our individual pacing, strengths, challenges, and goals made the experience feel incredibly personalized. We never felt rushed or like we had to keep pace with another group. Instead, the climb became our own journey, supported by an entire team whose goal was to help us succeed safely. By the end of seven days, calling them simply our “crew” didn’t feel right anymore. We genuinely felt like we had gained a family of 13 wonderful people. We came to Tanzania hoping to stand on the summit of Kilimanjaro.
